Urban Art Central is FLARE’s artist/volunteer-run gallery and shop, created to give Ōtautahi’s street artists a place to share their work beyond the walls they paint around the city.

We opened at The Crossing on October 2025 with a simple idea: artists need more opportunities to show and sell their work throughout the year, and people who love Christchurch’s street art should be able to connect with the artists behind it. The space brings those two things together. It’s run by artists and volunteers, with original artworks, limited-edition prints, books, zines and artist-made merchandise to explore.

We’ve since moved to 112 Cashel Street, where you can discover a new artist, find something special for your wall, or take a little piece of Ōtautahi home with you.

We’re in this space until it’s tenanted, so please come in while you can. If you’d like to help Urban Art Central continue long term, visiting, sharing the space with friends or buying directly from the artists all makes a difference.
